About This Organization

Orange County Congregation Community Organization (OCCCO) is a non-profit that brings together diverse communities of faith and neighbors to build grassroots power. Their mission is to develop leaders and advocate for policies that bring justice and healing to all corners of Orange County. They empower low-income communities of color to shape policy through civic action and work towards a future where everyone is seen, heard, and empowered, especially those most impacted by injustice. OCCCO believes that real change begins when communities unite, share their stories, and organize with purpose.

OCCCO's organizing is rooted in key justice areas including housing, education, immigration, and civic engagement. They offer programs focused on voter engagement, leadership development, and creating belonging and equity in various sectors. These programs aim to foster a sense of belonging and equity for immigrants, eliminate structural racism in K-12 public schools, prioritize equity for low-income BIPOC communities through housing initiatives, and engage voters through meaningful dialogue about critical social issues.

Since 1976, OCCCO has been empowering low-income communities of color to shape policy through civic action. They engage Spanish-speaking and immigrant residents through various methods such as phone banking, canvassing, voter registration, and Get Out the Vote efforts. OCCCO's work is led by the people most impacted, reflecting the courage, resilience, and leadership of their communities, and is transforming systems while empowering communities.
