Gold Futures Challenge

The Gold Futures Challenge, hosted by Asian American Futures and Gold House, is dedicated to democratizing philanthropy and increasing visibility for AAPI-serving organizations. Their mission is to ensure that AAPI individuals and communities are Seen, Heard, Empowered, and United, addressing the historical lack of funding and support for these communities. The organization aims to build unity among AAPIs and communities of color across the country, departing from traditional elitist grantmaking approaches.

The Challenge annually awards ten prizes totaling $500,000, determined by public vote from a pool of finalists selected by a committee. In addition to monetary awards, winners receive invaluable non-cash rewards, including access to technical platforms, peer relationships, and leadership and organizational training. The Gold Futures Challenge also facilitates mini-grants sponsored by various giving circles, such as The Dinner Guys Giving Circle and Beyond 2 Cents Giving Circle, to support specific needs within the AAPI LGBTQ+ community.

While the Gold Futures Challenge is currently on hiatus, the organization remains committed to strategic investments in AAPI-serving organizations and building supportive communities and partnerships. The program has successfully created a platform for democratizing philanthropy and increasing visibility for AAPI-serving organizations, fostering new audiences, donors, volunteers, and potential partners. Their innovative online funding and voting model has significantly impacted the AAPI community by providing crucial resources and support.
